Hi there!
I'm Sara (she/her)
My Teaching Philosophy
I genuinely believe that everyone is a "math person" and it's my #1 goal to convince each of my learners that they really are!
I developed my love for mathematics much later in life, and definitely considered myself a "math-hater" growing up. I can easily empathize with the anxiety and frustration that are all-too prevalent when learning this beautiful subject.
As your Math Teacher BFF, I strive to foster a comfortable, safe learning environment where we can have fun, discover, laugh, explore ideas, and most importantly - MAKE MISTAKES together! Getting a "wrong answer" is just a step toward understanding, it's a sign of progress, and always something to celebrate!

A few other things
-
I prioritize and recognize that learners' diversities (background/language/gender identity/race/socio-economic status/sexual orientation) greatly impact their learning styles so I'm always excited to learn as much about you as you're comfortable sharing!
-
I will not tolerate hate speech, derogatory language, or harassment of any kind; if you can't be nice, our work together will be immediately and permanently concluded and you will forfeit any and all fees paid.
-
Learners are expected to spend our time together wisely, actively engaged with the material; I kindly ask that cell phones be silenced and headphones/earbuds be removed.
